Last weekend, Nick and I took a trip to the farm that will be providing our weekly veggies this summer through the Dumbo-Vinegar Hill CSA: Sang Lee Farms, located on the North Fork of Long Island. It took about an hour and a half to get there from beneath the Brooklyn Bridge, and it was beautiful.
We got to see all the wee plants in the greenhouses and beds that we would gobble down someday. The glacially-formed substrata were described for us. We smelled the baby garlic and sampled the pea shoots and mourned the lost bee colony.
Then we were allowed to pick strawberries!
then we got to sampling.
The moral of this story? Get out of the city for a while.
